Chrome-magnesia brick

Chrome-magnesia brick is an alkaline refractory material made by firing chromite and magnesia. The main composition is chromium oxide and magnesium oxide. Good thermal stability, refractoriness above 2000℃. The performance of resistance to sudden changes in temperature and resistance to alkaline slag is better. It is used for the lining of steel-making open-hearth furnaces, steel-making electric furnaces, non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces, cement rotary kilns, etc.

Classification of Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick

(1) Ordinary Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick
(ie silicate combined Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick), this kind of brick is made of chrome ore and magnesia with more
impurities (SiO2 and CaO). The firing temperature is not high, around 1550°C.
(2) Directly bonded Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick
are made of chromium concentrate with low impurity content and relatively pure magnesia. The firing temperature is above 1700°C.
The structural feature of this kind of refractory brick is that the refractory crystal grains are mostly in direct contact.
(3) Recombined Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick
are combined with Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick. Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick made from artificial synthetic raw materials
co-sintered magnesia chromium materials or fused magnesia chromium materials (or partly fused magnesia) are called recombined
Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick.
(4) Semi-recombined Magnesia Chrome refractory Brick
which are made of artificial synthetic raw materials as granules, and chromium concentrate and magnesia as fine powder, should be
called semi-recombined magnesia-chrome bricks.

An alkaline refractory made of chromite and magnesia. The main composition is chromium oxide and magnesium oxide. Good thermal stability, refractoriness above 2000℃. The performance of resistance to sudden changes in temperature and resistance to alkaline slag is better. It is used for the lining of steel-making open-hearth furnaces, steel-making electric furnaces, non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces, cement rotary kilns, etc. Like magnesia chrome brick, it is a refractory product with spinel and periclase as the main crystal phase. The performance is between chromium refractories and magnesia chromium refractories. Using chromium ore and sintered magnesia as raw materials, a composite alkaline refractory brick containing 18%-30% of chromium oxide and 25%-55% of magnesium oxide is made according to an appropriate ratio. Generally, those with less than 50% chromium ore added are called magnesia chrome bricks, and those with more than or equal to 50% are called chrome magnesia bricks. In addition to sintered chrome-magnesium bricks fired in a weakly oxidizing atmosphere, its products can also be made into unfired bricks, fused-cast bricks, fused and combined chrome-magnesium bricks and bulk materials. It can be used for the lining of converters, induction furnaces, non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces, side walls of electric arc furnaces, open hearth furnaces, soaking furnaces, etc. When the ratio of chromium ore and sintered magnesia is 50% each, the product has the greatest thermal shock resistance, sometimes called thermal shock stable chrome magnesia brick, which is mainly used as an alkaline open-hearth top brick.
